How to Set Up and Tune Your INKLAB T7 (MAX & AS)

The INKLAB T7 has a lot built into a small wireless pen: voice commands, three running modes, five presets and a base that turns it on and off. Here’s how to set it up and dial it in, from first charge to your first pass.

First charge

Out of the box, charge it fully with the included Type-C cable. The 2000mAh battery takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to charge, and you can keep tattooing while it’s plugged in. The on-screen energy meter shows how much power you’re using, so you’ll learn quickly how your settings affect battery life.

Know your buttons

The control panel on the top of the battery has:

  • Power button: turns the machine on and off
  • Up / Down buttons: adjust voltage or speed, depending on the mode
  • Switch button: changes the screen and mode
  • Microphone: picks up voice commands when activated
  • Light: shows status (it turns green when voice control is listening)
  • Type-C port: for charging

Pick your running mode

This is where the T7 stands out from most pen machines. There are three modes:

Voltage Mode. This is the standard pen machine feel. Turn up the voltage and the speed goes up with it.

Speed Mode. Voltage is locked at 9V, and the up/down buttons change only the speed (frequency). You get consistent power and choose the pace.

Free Mode. You set voltage and speed/frequency separately, the way you’d tune the front and back springs on a coil.

Save your presets

The T7 stores five presets or gears. Once you’ve tuned a setup you like, such as a liner, a shader and a packer, save each to its own preset. You can switch between them in the middle of a session with a button press or a voice command, without readjusting everything.

Use voice control

Say “Hey Seven” to wake it up. When the green light comes on, give a command. There are 12:

Tips:

  • Pause briefly between commands so the machine catches each one.
  • To turn voice control on or off, long-press the Down and Switch buttons together.
  • Need to change the voice language? Message us and we’ll walk you through it.

Use the Smart Base

The magnetic base keeps the machine from rolling off your tray. It also works as a switch: set the machine on the base and it stops, pick it up and it starts again. Wiping, changing a cartridge or talking with your client, you don’t have to reach for a button.

T7 MAX or T7 AS?

Both machines work the same way. The difference is the stroke:

  • T7 MAX: 3.5mm or 4.0mm stroke, 175g, slim 33mm grip.
  • T7 AS: adjustable 4.5/5.0mm stroke by swapping the cam, 216g, 38mm grip.

Have questions about setting up your T7? We’re tattooers too. Send us a message and we’ll help you out. Both machines and spare batteries are in stock in Seattle and ship fast across the US.
